The Public Works Division is at the heart of most road, water and waste issues in Hampton. Public Works is separated into several major divisions, departments or services, including Engineering, Solid Waste, Streets and Roads and Environmental Services.

  1. City plans to put evacuation zone stickers on residential trash containers

    March 19, 2018 – Starting on April 2, Hampton’s Public Works Department and Office of Emergency Management will begin a two-week campaign to put special “Know Your Zone” stickers on more than 45,000 residential trash containers throughout the city.
  2. Public can now comment online about pollutant plans for Chesapeake Bay and Back River

    March 7, 2018 - Drafts of the two plans that address the maximum amount of pollutants the Chesapeake Bay and Back River can receive while still meeting government water quality standards are now available online.
  3. Unwanted residential propane tanks, smaller cannister can be left at collection site

    March 1, 2018 - Residents who need to properly dispose of residential propane tanks, including five pound cylinders, one pound camping tanks and smaller soldering-type cylinders, can now leave that at "quarterly" chemical collection events. Read on...
